Ortiz Center Announces Funding for Collaborative Projects

In response to a call for proposals distributed in November, the Alfonso Ortiz Center for Intercultural Studies is pleased to announce funding for the following projects:

El Centro de la Raza, “Quetzalkuetlachtli ‘Quetzal’ Student Group: Intercultural Indigenous Research and Exchange in Mexico,”$900.

Maria del Pilar File-Muriel, PhD candidate in ethnology, Department of Anthropology, “Practicing Collaborative Scholarship through Building Transnational Solidarity,”$1500.

Native American Studies Department, “Viola Cordova Symposium: 50th Anniversary Celebration of Native American Studies,” $1500.

Jens Van Guysel, PhD candidate, Department of Linguistics, “Independencia Territorial, Educacional, y de Salud: Encuentro Inercultural entre los Sanapan (Paraguay) y los Nasa (Colombia)," $1350.

The Ortiz Center proudly supports these interdisciplinary, international collaborative projects that engage research and teaching at UNM with community members and organizations beyond campus borders. Congratulations to the recipients!
