In response to a call for proposals distributed in December 2020, the Alfonso Ortiz Center for Intercultural Studies is pleased to announce funding for the following project:

"Enhancing and supporting local indigenous scholars in the study of skeletal health among Native Americans in New Mexico." The proposal submited by Ian Wallace, Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology, has been awarded $4,700. The Ortiz Center is pleased to fund this multi-faceted collaboration with Jemez Pueblo and its youth, including undergraduates enrolled at UNM.

The Ortiz Center proudly supports interdisciplinary, international collaborative projects that engage research and teaching at UNM with community members and organizations beyond campus borders. Congratulations to the recipient!
