The Alfonso Ortiz Center for Intercultural Studies is currently accepting applications for Project Requests during the 2020-2021 academic year. Proposed projects should be focused on collaborative projects in education, public outreach, exhibition, or research with a public orientation.

Faculty, graduate students, and staff may apply for funds to assist with collaborative projects in three funding categories:  up to $500; $500-1000; $1,000-$1500. Most awards will be distributed in the lower amount, with the higher amounts reserved for projects with a broad impact. The Center prioritizes applicants who have not been previously funded, unless requests are part of a multi-year project (see funding guidelines). Given COVID circumstances, virtual projects are encouraged.

Graduate student applications must be accompanied by a letter of support from a faculty advisor

Best consideration date for applications is January 8, 2020, with notification of funding by January 25, 2021. Funds for these projects must be expended by June 30, 2021 – there are no exceptions to this deadline.

Potential applicants should discuss their project in advance with the Ortiz Center Director, Lea McChesney.  Funding guidelines and project request forms, as well as an archive of projects supported by the Center, may be found on the Ortiz Center website or by contacting the Director.

Applications should be sent to ortizcenter@unm.edu.
